Written by Jonathan Diaz

Here's a how-to article on activating your work iPhone's hotspot and connecting it to your work MacBook during emergency cases due to network outages in your area or during testing use with the mMR Support team. If you have any questions or issues with setup, please feel free to contact mMR Support or email the Help Desk at [email protected].

Instructions

On iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings-> Personal Hotspot or Settings-> Cellular-> Personal Hotspot

  2. Tap the slider next to Allow Others to Join

  3. For Wi-Fi Password, keep this handy since you'll need this in the next step

On Mac:

  1. On the menu bar top right, click on the Wi-Fi icon

  2. Under Personal Hotspot, locate and select your work iPhone (should be titled by your full name)

  3. When prompted, enter the Wi-Fi password (this can be found on the phone under the Allow Others to Join slider in the Personal Hotspot section)

  4. Once it connects, the Wi-Fi icon will change from wireless bars to the hotspot chain links (looks like 2 ovals or rectangles)

  5. Next, open Google Chrome

  6. Go to console.jumpcloud.com to test if the internet is active. If working, login with your JumpCloud email and password

  7. Lastly, select mMR from the Applications list and see if you're able to access the app successfully.

Please keep in mind that hotspot use should only be used for temporary or testing purposes since the connection is slower than your home network. Please use the feature accordingly.
